Taking the good with the bad...

THE GOOD: So today I had the time to finish up the baby quilts, and bibs I have been working on and I am posting them today!

THE BAD: My machine HATES the pattern I am sewing now because of all seams and is refusing to work with me today, so I gave up to try again tomorrow with a fresh outlook. Maybe if I had a Handy Dandy iron here I could fix my problem.... Hmmm might have to borrow one before I go crazy on my sewing machine!

So the bibs and the coordinating quilt I did for Baby Wilson. I kinda winged the pattern with a 4.5" square. I yarn quilted it together and really like the results! The Brown and pink quilt I did is from Simply Strips and Squares by Suzanne McNeill but I altered it quite a bit, and this quilt is for Baby Haley:) This Quilt taught me a lot, like if you are doing straight line quilting do all one direction before starting another... LOL It is definitely not perfect but it looks pretty to me:) And there is lots of love in it <3  Hopefully I can get them in the mail ASAP!

Quilting like a Mad Woman

So I have finished one quilt and have started binding another today. And one thing I have learned this week is beginners should NOT use Plush Fabric AKA Binky Fabric, especially while learning to free motion quilt. Its just not fun, it bunches and you have to rip rip rip. Ughh Lesson well learned! I will be posting pics as soon as I get the baby girl quilt bound. I am super excited about the way it turned out and can not wait to gift it! I have to say for my first straight line quilt I am proud of it! Although I am not so stoked about having to bind it! Def not my fav part of this process, but I am told that it will not be so bad after practice... We shall see!

How it started...

As I was growing up i was not the neat and clean little girl my sister was. I did not like white and pink, and dolls and such. My room was not clean, and my clothes never folded. Instead I was always dying flowers, cutting stuff up (which sometimes involved my hair sorry mom), hot glueing, and just generally making a HUGE mess. Now that I am all grown up I can not ever decide on one single crafting hobby, much to the dismay of my husband. I make cakes, scrapbook, create banners, and now I quilt. I like to try and do everything!
I was doing so well sticking to ONLY doing cakes for a while. That was until we helped my in-laws clean out Grandma Wilsons sewing room! Oh boy my husband probably regrets that, we came home with EVERYTHING I could get my hands on that had to do with Quilting. I am truly disappointed I never got the chance to meet that amazing woman. We also ended up with about 10 quilts she had sewn by hand. And as much as I love the amazing detail in these quilts there is absolutely no way in the world I would have the time or patience to hand quilt. So we sprung for a Singer Simple. Now I know this is not the most amazing sewing machine but my husband has the right to be leery of my newest addiction, so I went for the Simple..... for now!
Sew here is a few pics of my cakes and quilts :)
